The Backyard
Saving Your Greenery
Box tree moths can quickly ruin your garden, but we are here to help your shrubs stay healthy. At Box Wood Defenders, we use a friendly BTK treatment—a natural protein that specifically targets hungry caterpillars. We only spray your boxwoods, so you can feel good knowing it is totally safe for your kids, pets, and the local bees or butterflies that visit your yard. We make keeping your garden beautiful very easy.
Signs you might have box tree moth
- Skeletonized leaves
The caterpillars eat the soft parts of the leaves and leave the veins behind, so the leaves look “skeletonized” or see-through. - Bare or thinning boxwoods
Heavy feeding can strip a lot of leaves off the plant. If your boxwoods look patchy, thin, or partly bare, that’s a warning sign. - Silky webbing inside the plant
Look deep inside the shrub for fine, silky webbing that can look a bit like a spider nest. The larvae use this to make a little “house” to hide and overwinter. - Caterpillars or moths
- Larvae: green caterpillars with a black head and dark stripes.
- Adults: small white moths with a thin brown edge on the wings.
